Dog hair is easier to manage when you interrupt it before it spreads through the entire house. The goal is not a perfectly hair-free home; it is a routine that keeps buildup under control.
Start with the dog
Brush in a location that is easy to clean and use a tool appropriate for the coat type. More pressure is not always better. Stop if the skin becomes irritated, and ask a groomer which brush is suitable when you are uncertain.
Protect the highest-use areas
Washable throws can protect sofa cushions and favorite sleeping spots. Choose covers that are easy to remove and that can tolerate frequent washing. A small basket near the living room makes clean covers easier to rotate.
Use the right cleaning sequence
Loosen hair with a slightly damp rubber glove or upholstery tool, collect it, and then vacuum. Vacuuming first may leave embedded hair behind. Clean filters and brush rolls regularly so the machine maintains airflow.
A short daily pass in the most-used room usually works better than waiting for a large weekly buildup.
